Abstract
Drainage on rural roads is little discussed, even with the economic importance of agriculture in Brazil. Anthropogenic practices, such as deforestation and the planting of crops without proper management, have been causing soil erosion, due to the lack of conservation practices, increas-ingly reducing water infiltration into the soil, increasing surface runoff and consequently re-ducing replenishment of the water table. One of the environmentally appropriate ways to allo-cate rainwater on roads is using the Water Containment Pocket. This technique consists of dig-ging basins on the edges of highways in predetermined locations so that rainwater can be stored, facilitating water infiltration into the soil, presenting itself as an alternative of great environ-mental value. Therefore, to facilitate the correct dimensioning of pockets, the present work was carried out with the objective of developing and testing an application for this purpose. The experiment was carried out in the Experimental Field of Sertãozinho/EPAMIG, municipality of Patos de Minas-MG. The Flutter language (Dart) was used, based on Google Maps database, and calculations (formulas) from a spreadsheet developed by a researcher of EPAMIG to di-mension the pockets. After field testing and finalizing the application, it was concluded that the application is effective and matched the field calculations.
